Your Sexual Health: Stay Connected. Stay Local.
Sexual Health Awareness Week (15-21 September) is here, and we are proud to highlight its local sexual and reproductive health services under the banner “You Sexual Health: Stay Connected. Stay Local." This campaign seeks to increase awareness about the significance of sexual health and encourage residents to find and use available services, both in person and online.
Why is this important?
Your sexual and reproductive health is important, and our services are available around the clock to help you take charge of your health. With rising rates of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) staying informed and protected is essential. That’s why we provide a variety of services aimed at keeping you and your partners safe, particularly online.
A lot of us spend a lot of time on the internet and sense-checking information may have become harder. When it comes to sexual health and wellbeing, we want to ensure that you are getting the correct information about local sexual health services, so you make the right choices for yourself. As well as checking on the Find Sexual Health website for south east London services, you can also visit the NHS website and your GP website for more information.
Access support close to home… and delivered to your home
Sexual health services in England are overseen by local authorities. In Lambeth, many pharmacies provide free routine and emergency contraception without needing a prescription or GP referral. Additionally, you can order contraception online through www.shl.uk (except Bromley).
For local sexual health services, visit the Find Sexual Health website for south east London. This directory offers information about nearby services, including primary care and community organisations providing support. In partnership, Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham, offer services tailored to young people (under 25s). Visit Turning Point for workshops, drop-in services, community health events, one-on-one educational sessions, HIV prevention support, and accompaniment to clinics and health appointments.
If you experience symptoms of an STI, it’s important to visit a sexual health clinic for evaluation by a healthcare professional. These clinics are also offering the gonorrhoea vaccine to gay, bisexual and men who have sex with men (GBMSM) and people who are at high risk of getting and transmitting this STI:
